What Are Dental Veneers?
If tooth imperfections have you hiding your smile, your trusted team at Afton Dental is here to help. We are proud to offer a range of cosmetic dentistry procedures, including dental veneers, to perfect your teeth and enhance your smile. You’ll love the stunning results!
What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers are wafer-thin, custom-made porcelain shells that cover the front and sides of your teeth to mask any flaws or imperfections. A veneer instantly corrects a tooth’s color, size, shape, or length, strengthening it and enhancing its appearance. We may need to remove a wafer thin layer of tooth enamel. But, once in place, these versatile restorations deliver flawless teeth and beautiful, confident smiles!
Does My Tooth Need To Be Removed In Order To Get Veneers?
The answer is no. In some situations we do not have to remove any of your tooth to perform the dental veneer.
What Conditions Do Dental Veneers Correct?
Dental veneers offer an outstanding cosmetic dentistry solution to address various concerns, including gaps in your smile, minor teeth crowding, and severe staining or discoloration that does not respond to traditional teeth whitening. They also correct chipped, broken, crooked, worn, or misshapen teeth, with incredible results. In most cases, we recommend dental veneers for cosmetic purposes. However, they are often used to strengthen weakened teeth and correct dental problems, such as uneven bites.
What Are the Advantages of Dental Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are incredibly natural-looking and feeling. Unless you told someone you’d had cosmetic work done on your teeth, they wouldn’t have the slightest idea. Better yet, the material is stain-resistant, leaving you with the confidence that you’ll enjoy a white, bright smile for years to come!
Veneers are considered conservative restorations compared to dental crowns because they require the removal of much less tooth structure while providing more aesthetic results. The procedure is so gentle and comfortable that most of our patients don’t require local anesthetics. With proper care, your veneers can last 10 to 15 years, and even up to 20 years in some cases!
What Is the Dental Veneer Procedure?
We may remove a wafer-thin layer of tooth enamel from the front and sides of your teeth to make the needed space for your new veneers. Next, we will take impressions of your teeth to send to our dental laboratory for fabrication. While waiting, you’ll have temporary veneers to protect your prepared teeth.
When your veneers are ready, you’ll return to our office for a placement appointment. We will evaluate your restorations for a proper fit and color match and will make any needed adjustments. The last step is bonding your new veneers to your tooth structure. You’ll be amazed at how beautifully natural they look!
